Roman Forum

The Roman Forum was the civic centre of ancient Rome, in the valley between the Palatine and Capitoline hills. Today it is part of the Colosseum Archaeological Park. Forum and Palatine are usually visited on the same ticket as the Colosseum, with timed Colosseum entry.

Highlights not to miss

Via Sacra and the arches

Via Sacra and the arches

The Sacred Way runs through the Forum past the Arch of Titus and toward the Capitoline. Give time to wander, not only the Colosseum slot.

Senate and temples

Senate and temples

Ruins of the Curia, Temple of Saturn, and Temple of Vesta sit in a small area. A site map (or audio guide) helps more than wandering blind.

One park, three sites

Colosseum, Forum, and Palatine share ticketing. Read the current product names on colosseo.it. Night openings and SUPER sites rotate.

Buy on the official Colosseum Archaeological Park channels. The Forum is not a separate walk-in ruin on busy days.

FAQ

Is the Forum a separate ticket?

Usually no. It is bundled with Palatine and the Colosseum in the park's main tickets. Read the official product you bought.

Can I skip the Colosseum and only see the Forum?

Some ticket types emphasise Forum/Palatine. Check colosseo.it for the current menu rather than assuming.

How long do I need?

Forum plus Palatine is easy to fill 2-3 hours before you even enter the Colosseum.

Which entrance?

Depends on your ticket. Common approaches are from Via dei Fori Imperiali and from the Palatine / San Gregorio side.

The valley that ran the city

The Forum grew from a marshy valley into the ceremonial and civic core of Rome. What you see now is a layered ruin: Republican temples, Imperial additions, and later churches.

Management sits with the Parco Archeologico del Colosseo. Ticket names change (full experience, 24-hour, Forum SUPER). Always match your plan to the live official page.
